As more and more known exceptions to the 50 move rule became know as the result of EGTB,s - smarter heads prevailed and decided the old rule worked pretty good for a lot of years before there were computers - so what if the known mate takes more than 50 -- the player has to do it in less than 50 move or less. I applauded the move back to 50. I have seen that bug in Crafty (I'm not really sure it is all Crafty because I only see it on Arena - I had put a fix in to Crafty to fix it at various times - but the fix was just a workaround - I beleive the bug is actually in Arena. I made Crafty go to at least 101 ply before claiming draw and I took that "I claim a draw" message that Crafty has when playing Arena GUI - when that message was inserted in Crafty - that is when the bug first appeared .
