Hi Chrisopher, Fischer Random Chess is by far not the same as Shuffle Chess. Enabling of castlings is essential. But there are some positions (18 from 960) which may be executable on most engines. Here [http://www.beepworld.de/members53/frc-list/] at Stefan Pohl's pages you can find some results for tests on this Pseudo FRC . At my pages [http://www.chessbox.de/Compu/fullchess1_e.html] you can read some texts to the FRC theme, too. And you can find a special FullChess FEN-Editor [http://www.chessbox.de/Compu/fullchess7_e.html] for 8x8 FRC and 10x8 CRC. I understand your intention to avoid lookup knowledge, because using huge opening libraries or table bases will prevent improvings of evaluation functions. And overmore I try to avoid so called chess expert knowledge to be implemented into my to be completed chess engine Smirf. Specific to "fair" chess battles see at [http://www.chessbox.de/Compu/schachfair_e.html]. Regards, Reinhard.
