Usually I stop because of my 10 plies limit, hash miss is not so common.

I'm not sure I understand this question well, anyway I just ignore the depth
when retrieving the PV.

In my implementation, I wouldn't bet on it. Often I don't even know what the
leaf is.

Well I have no problems with no-so-good PV's as long as the first move is
good... and I have had my share of problems for that too!
