When I made the request for poll questions and answers a couple
of weeks ago (for the 5th time), it was designed to create more
poll questions. We have been pretty busy here with other projects,
but I do not recall an avalanche of responses.
The Microsoft question by Larry Tamarkin seemed perfect because it
immediately caused discussion and the possible answers were simple.
In the past, when we have asked for polling questions and answers,
we have received lots of ideas, but very few specific questions
with specific possible answers. Putting up the questions is not
the difficult part; formulating the possible answers IS.
I would prefer to stay away from questions pertaining to
CCC policy (i.e. paying for CCC membership and regulations)
because:
1) they really have nothing to do with computer chess;
2) we have no intentions on charging for CCC membership;
3) CCC regulations are the domain of the duly elected
moderators.
I would LOVE to have a CCC committee that would formulate
question and answers and simply pass them on to us. I have
asked for this numerous times. There seems to be interest,
but it never goes anywhere.
So, I ask the membership again... if you have poll questions
AND possible answers with respect to computer chess issues,
send them along. If anyone would like to be on a committee,
or better yet form a committee, let us know.
