I agree that dropping into ctf at times and reading a few posts there can create
this impression.

However, you shouldn't forget that it's basically the same persons (or a
fraction of them) who are posting in CCC. IMHO, the relatively high number of
naughty quarrels and insults in ctf just refelects how much more difficult it is
to successfully communicate over some conflict loaded issue like Palestine or
the Iraq war. It's not so easy to create emotions and tensions, when discussing
the efficiency of a hash algorithm. -:)

After all, who of us is really trained to debate constructively via an internet
forum ? IMHO, this is quite a challenge.

There are times when I am becoming annoyed about the tone in ctf too;
nevertheless I see it as a chance to learn a bit. If you try to join the
discussions open-minded and you are ready to listen, I think that you may learn
a bit about a foreign religion, foreign culture, some area of science, ...
whatever.

In summary, I think that ctf is place which is worth being maintained. However
it may be a good idea to reconsider moderation issues.

Thx,
Uli
