Should code to handle time be also removed and have both programs use a common algorithm? Should hash tables be disabled (table lookup, aaagggghhh!)? Internal eval tables disabled also (more table lookups, damn)? What is thinking then? Just alphabeta with material evaluation? And now, what about a tournament with Kasparov, Anand, Kramnik, Shirov... and make them all play your openings with black and white :) And forget about anything they have in memory. A typical endgame position I saw in a book? Forgetted! A typical combination in the midgame? Forgetted! Only "thinking" strength, boys! José C.
