Hi, We all know that the future of CCC is not sure, so I tought of eventual alternative and I would like to know you opinions about it. If enought people tell me that this could be great, maybe I'll implement it. So this is my idea an NNTP server, yes, like the old rgcc, but with some modification: o Authentication : In order to post on the group you must be authenticated I don't think the NNTP protocol had any functionalities to do this, so we could (This is just an idea) begin our message like this : u:mathieup p:monpassword of course thoses lines would not appear on the newsgroup messages. o Moderation : A web interface would allow the moderators to access the NG database so, like on CCC the messages would always be posted as soon as they are sent, but the moderators could delete them anytime after (unlike actuel Usenet Moderation) o Search engine : ok, if we do our own nntp server we will not be able to search it on Google Groups or other service of this kind. It is why we should be able to export the message in the same format as CCC use, so Andrei's engine would still be usable. This would of course imply that we had to program a new NNTP server (I'm willing to do it, just for the fun of it) and to host it (I'm sure someone will volunter) So tell me what you think, tell me your idea or tell me it is the badest idea you ever heard about CCC futur if it is the case. I would personnaly prefer this kind of forum, since we could all use it with our prefered news reader. Mathieu Pagé
