The answers could logically be very different depending on the hash size.

Are they both good moves, or is one of them bad?

What will you say is the best move from here:

As you can imagine, there is more than one sensible answer, though e4 will be
pretty popular.

The only way to know for sure that something is the best move is to analyze
every path all the way to the end (won/loss/drawn).

In analysis mode, the program may think differently.  For instance, it may
speculate and backtrack and look at the database for hints and all sorts of
things.

Unless one of the suggested moves is not a very good move, I would not worry
about it at all.
