It is just that fast that you cant see it. If you take that position the engine is getting the information out of the tablebases that every move is a draw. Then it starts calculating. Check this position: [D]3K4/4BB2/8/8/8/2b5/2k5/8 w - - Dead draw! Some engine give a line like this: 5/02 0:00 0.00 1.Be8 (98) and stop thinking. Shredder is starting to calculate to give more lines. To decide what is more valid is useless. To stop at ply 5 or to calculate to ply 30 without any progress is ... If you take a position where a win or loss is possible this is of course something different. Bye Ingo Bauer PS: In the Classic GUI I usually have the checkbox for the tablebase use of the GUI switched off, because I nerly never use the orakel and switching off is saving my memory resources.
