Hello George, Yes. Once I was asked to test two books by two different authors for the engine Chezzz 1.0.3. I played some 160-170 games with both books. The difference in score negligible. I came to the conclusion that with a "general purpose" book you can't show an advantage for any engine. What he should do is to create engine specific books, taking into account the playing style of the engine, its strength and weaknesses. Just like the profis do. For that he should study each engine thoroughly. When he creates such a book, that is something worth comparing to a general purpose book. If he does that for a commercial engine he may even make money. > And also don't forget that often computer chess games are fun to watch:-) I agree totally. That is what I do every day!
