You do not answer the question of the poster.
If you already extend checks by one ply then extending single reply to check is
useless with that limitation because the limitation that you give always say not
to extend.
depth+1-1 was the initial extension without extending single reply to check.
depth+limit(2)-1 is the new depth after adding single reply to check extension
but you define limit(2)=1 so it is the same.
