I agree with you on all counts. He is a supremely talented player by all means,
but best player never to be WC?? He is not even in my list of top 20 such
players. He never even reached the top 10 players on the rating list for a year
(was he at any time at all?), much less the top 5 or even the best player to not
be WC.
Top 5 players to never be WC in my opinion (the order is not necessarily exact):
1) Korchnoi (he is my top pick by far)
2) Keres
3) Bronstein
4) Reshevsky
5) Rubinstein
