Subject: question on hash settings

Ok I am confused! Frist off my hardware consists of AMD dual opteron 250
@2.4ghz, Tyan k8w motherboard 1.5 gigs of OCZ pc3200 ram, Powmax clear tower
with 500w power supply!!! All time controls based on 3min and 0inc Now on
playchess I have monkeyed around and found out that the engine plays stronger
moves and wins WAY more games with a hash of 512. I have tried 32, 64, 96, 128,
256, and 384, and based on 20 games per hash setting the 512 has yet to lose a
game. Also, at this setting I have never been in time pressure. However, when
using chess partner this hash setting sucks. I often lose games on time and am
barely even winning to weak players. I am lost can interfaces affect hash
tables? If so could any one recommend a good size for my hardware and time
controls. This is very confusing. Currently using 64 with chess partner. Engine
is shedder 8. Thanks in advance to all that help.
