Hi, remember that a branching factor is highly dependant to the stability of pv while iterating. A good brute force engine has about 2,5 to 3 (without any selectivity beside nullmove). But if the pv switches much the branching factor will increase much. Thus a stable static eval is a good way to reduce the branching factor. Greetings Volker
