I have a question to all that have used Crafty.exe, must be the executable, and not the chessbase .eng version. Under my chessbase gui, any Crafty.exe version before 18.02... 18.01 works fine, so does all the 17's and 16.19. Now, anything for sure in my chessbase gui, from the .exe version 18.03 onward has a problem with evaluations. Example: d2d4 Nf6 f2f4 d7d5 e2e4?? (blundered pawn) dxe4. rnbqkb1r/ppp1pppp/5n2/8/3PpP2/8/PPP3PP/RNBQKBNR w KQkq - 0 1 Analysis by Crafty 19.17: 4...c6 5.Be2 Nd5 6.c4 Nb4 7.Be3 Bf5 8.g4 Bd7 µ (-1.02) Depth: 9/12 00:00:01 713kN 4...c6 5.Be2 Nd5 6.c4 Nf6 7.Be3 Na6 8.Nc3 Nb4 µ (-0.87) Depth: 10/15 00:00:02 1653kN 4...c6 5.Be2 Nd5 6.c4 Nb4 7.Nc3 N8a6 8.Be3 Bf5 9.g4 Bg6 µ (-0.91) Depth: 11/16 00:00:07 6129kN This is the .eng file from Chessbase. It works fine. Now here is the .exe version of Crafty under the Chessbase gui. rnbqkb1r/ppp1pppp/5n2/8/3PpP2/8/PPP3PP/RNBQKBNR w KQkq - 0 1 Analysis by Crafty 19.17: 4...c6 5.Be2 Nd5 6.c4 Nb4 7.Be3 Bf5 8.g4 Bd7 ± (1.02) Depth: 9 00:00:00 405kN 4...c6 5.Be2 Nd5 6.c4 Nb4 7.Be3 Bf5 8.g4 Bd7 ± (1.02) Depth: 9 00:00:00 480kN 4...c6 5.Be2 Nd5 6.c4 Nf6 7.Be3 Na6 8.Nc3 Nb4 9.Nh3 Bxh3 10.gxh3 ± (0.87) Depth: 10 00:00:01 1237kN 4...c6 5.Be2 Nd5 6.c4 Nf6 7.Be3 Na6 8.Nc3 Nb4 9.Nh3 Bxh3 10.gxh3 ± (0.87) Depth: 10 00:00:02 2581kN 4...c6 5.Be2 Nd5 6.c4 Nb4 7.Nc3 N8a6 8.Be3 Bf5 9.g4 Bg6 ± (0.91) Depth: 11 00:00:05 5007kN 4...c6 5.Be2 Nd5 6.c4 Nb4 7.Nc3 N8a6 8.Be3 Bf5 9.g4 Bg6 ± (0.91) Depth: 11 00:00:06 6328kN As you can see, the analysis is the just the opposite. Saying White is ahead just after blundering a pawn. Any .exe version prior to 18.02, (ex: 18.01, 17.01, 16.19...) works fine. Every .exe version after 18.01 has the problem with the evaluations being opposite. This causing it to resign when actually it's winning. What I ask of you is to try it under your chessbase gui, (old & new) and reply here with your results, Please! Thanks, Joshua Haglund toneewa@yahoo.com
