ALEXS was supposed to be a new type of chess software based on artificial intelligence. And then it turned out that only the author, Mr van Tiggelen, had used new means, but that the buyer got a program where he could not change anything. Mr van Tiggelen contacted me a few times about that and the main idea was that the programs he uses to produce artificial intelligence programs like ALEXS are much too complicated and too expensive and maybe not even available to the general public for use. They are making programs which should be able to predict the stock market, for example. Now what is your input then: numbers and numbers of old happenings at the stock market in all combinations and correlations. Question: is this artificial intelligence? But maybe it would be different at chess. Imagine a program which knows the rules and nothing else. And then you play against it and it learns, and then it is as stupid as you. So you start feeding it with Grandmaster games and it learns and learns. I think such a program would be the baby darling of all here. The idea is intrigueing but not quite likely at the moment!
