Check the CSS-rating list at http://www.computerschach.de/rangliste/ for chess engines running under the Fritz interface. In eighth place you'll find List 5.12, a Chessbase native engine. It's NOT the UCI engine with the same version number, it's the Chessbase engine that received notoriety due to its disqualification from the computer chess championship in November 2003. I've already written to Chessbase asking for the engine, and I was told that I should write to the author, because Chessbase did not develop the engine. (Strange, because Chessbase's site offers List 5.04 for free download). I wrote to Mr. Reul and received no reply, maybe because he's still annoyed about the disqualification. So, my question is: does anybody apart from CSS possess this engine? Has it ever been sold, included with other products, or given away free of charge?
