I think there is a misunderstanding. The scid.eco file that scid loads at the begining is only a help for scid to classify openings. If you want to train openings or browse through them, do it like that: - Grab a big pgn database on the web (500000 to 2mio games) - Convert the pgn database to scid. - Load the database in scid - Open Windows->Tree Window - Make new game, make your moves and the tree window automatically shows you all the moves from this position in the database, and also the Eco codes for variations that are in scids eco file. regards Andy
