All good engines use qsearch. After searching full width (all moves) to a depth
of x, the engine has to stop and cleanup the position (analyze captures,
promotions, checks...) only. If you don't do qsearch, the engine will stupidly
evaluate a position after a fixed depth. E.g If I am down a bishop, but I can
capture the opponent's queen--I have to look at the capture--that's qsearch. If
I don't do qsearch, all I see is that I'm down a bishop (the eval part) while I
can capture the opponent's queen--not smart.
