That's true in your engine but it's not the case in mine. In my case the null move makes a critical difference because in the mating line it pushes it into qsearch earlier which, in my engine, doesn't generate checking moves (unless they are captures). This causes an additional ply to be needed to find it which makes a critical difference. BTW, as I posted before I find the key move early, just not the mating line. In the last WAC run I did I found Qf4 in under a second. Andy.
