I dont think that this is the reson but you could not know because i did not give the nessesary facts. The slow loading comp is only dedicated to chess. Prior to intall SP2 I made a complete new HD-partinioning and format, install of WinXP, then SP2, THEN the Tablebases (upto 5, in one piece), and then the remaining chess programms. Defragmentation is done once a month (at least). I am still searching. If I come to a conclusion I will report it (again - everything is working fine, except it needs 25-30s to load an engine) Thx anyhow Ingo
