I strongly recommend to read Botvinnik's book (it's possible in english, see
refs at my page) for those interested in it.
It is impossible to combine Botvinnik's ideas and brute-force search
(such as Alpha-Beta, & its modifications) in its clear generic kind,
like Botvinnik proposed.
But a lot of IMPROVEMENTS & HEURISTICS, I think, remain applicable.
