ICC helpers/admin used to be a lot friendlier -- keyword is "used".  I was there
in the beginning when it was free -- had a paid membership for many years - let
it lapse - rejoined a year ago and recognize a noticiable difference in
friendliness (or lack there of). Just let it lapse again since the chessbase
software provides the same service with playchess.
