Rd6 was also played by karpov, but anand chose not to exchange the bishop on f3 (IMO that is more sensible than taking on f3, but who am i to judge...) here's something that computers (and many posters here) don't understand: going into an ending with 3 vs 4 pawns on one wing is quite a good attempt to draw. of course it's a pleasant position for white, but objectively it should be a draw. cheers martin
