Well, it certainly doesn't "prevent" you from playing any time control that you
want. As soon as you know that the game is truly over, just stop playing. Even
if you post the game here, people will understand by looking at the ending
position that there was no reason to go on.

But, yes, not resigning is a design decision that was made very early on in
Chessmaster's history, and there was never any compelling reason to change it.
Perhaps we could have added a "Personalities Can Resign" option, but it just
wasn't a high priority.
