I think you are getting mixed up with the names :
The old Centrino is with Pentium M Banias (1.7 GHz maximum)
The new Centrino is with Pentium M Dothan (2.0 GHz maximum, so far)

In the Fritz8 ChessMark test, see
http://www.beepworld.de/members39/computerschach2/chessmarks.htm

the 1.8 GHz Dothan scores like the 2 GHz Athlon 64 : at 1194 Kn/s,
but the 1.7 Banias is not very far.

The 1.4 GHz Banias (old Centrino) would score less than a 2GHz Athlon XP.

Of course your program is different from Fritz8, but your statement would mean
that a (new) Pentium M 2.0 GHz would be comparable to an Athlon 3 GHz or a P4
4.5 GHz !
