The position in the book is "wNf3,wPe4,bPe5 - black to move", but the resulting position after Ng8 is "wNf3,wPe4,bPe5 - white to move" So, if you encode the moving side into your hash keys, you shouldn't run into this problem (or am I missing something ?).
