speed is not everything.

Junior8 beated Arasan when Arasan had a big hardware advantage.

They were the best in their time and it proves nothing about comparison to today
programs.

It is impossible to compare depth.

They got smaller nominal depth then most of today programs.

Yes they are not near the final deeper blue.

They are clearly better.
They can play chess.

Deeper blue cannot do it after winning against kasparov.

If you compare by results then their result was not better because it is logical
to assume that humans learned since 1997 to play better and at that time they
had weaker machines to learn from them.

I also do not understand why you start comparison with deeper blue that is not
the topic here.
