Hi Stuart,

Just working this thru 'out loud' ...

Eg.,

alpha = -30 beta = +50 depth = d

so -beta, -beta+1 = -50, -49

which gives new alpha = -50 and beta = -49 and depth = d-1

now if one of the moves leads to a forced mate we fail high and return MATE-n

which is negated to -MATE+n

so, no, the 'null-window' search WILL return mate scores just fine.
