Just avoid setting the hash size too large, which would cause memory swapping (to the hd swap file), making Fritz much weaker. For example, when you have ~190 MB free after closing unnecessary applications, start Fritz, press F3 and set the hash size to 128 MB. Never set it to the very maximum. A few MBytes more or less don't make any difference in playing strength. CPU speed is the main thing. To check the free RAM, you can use several freeware RAM monitoring tools. Just google for it, I'm sure there are dozens of it available. Steve
