When Slater Wold was compiling chess programs and comparing AMD64 to AMD32,
there were a few that got no speedup. Fruit initially was 10% slower on AMD64,
and after using a newer beta compiler it was about 1.5% faster on AM64. Gerbil
was 0.3% faster on AMD64.

But like I said previously, so far we have beta compilers with a beta operating
system, so maybe it's all meaningless at this point anyway. I'm really itching
to buy an AMD64 machine, and I have no problems using Linux, but I haven't had
the best results with GCC.
