Don't worry about nodes / depth _too_ much.  Engines vary a _lot_ based on the
amount of extensions and pruning that they do.  For example, Shredder will get
depth 11 in 2 seconds while Chessmaster will need 2 minutes.  If I enable SE on
Zappa, I increase the node count dramatically (factor of 2 or more per ply).
