Thanks to all who responded to my request for help with my move generator. I found 3 bugs: 1. I had dropped some bits from the knightATTACKS bitboard array on the floor. Picked them back up and put them back into the array and this works much better. 2. I had an 'if (square = A8)' instead of 'if (square == A8)' hidden in the castle code 3. I had one of my pawn attack board shifting the wrong direction to check for attacks. All better now. Still a bit slow (on my 500 mHz computer with a 100 mHz FSB). I appreciate all who responded and offered assistance. BTW. anyone who has seen a real benifit from the ongoing discussion on this board should through their $0.02 in, literally. William
