Perhaps even a large part of the ones that an engine cannot win without support of TBs. Think for example of those KNNKP positions (to give even a 5-men example - I suspect more such cases in 6-men), where 45 moves of shuffling is needed. WDL would say won for many positions, but the engine would have a hard time to make progress. In some KQPKQ positions the same problem, even in KQKR. In the later WDL tables will basically say won for most positions, but without some more or less specific endgame knowledge, an engine will not be able to win it. If it has that knowledge, it won't need the TBs at all ... Of course, I think that WDL tables are useful, too. Regards, Dieter
