I agree with you 100 percent. Kramnik is a great player, but this way, he can
dodge Kasparov yet again. Ilyumzhinov is certainly bad for chess, but we
finally had way out of the fiasco the chess "championship" was in. Now this!!!

It seems like Ponomariov was the first dodger and quitter ... now Kramnik is
doing it. Oy! Come on guys ... just play! As the Nike commercial says ...
JUST DO IT. As it stands now, chess is like boxing, with many "champions." As
chess enthusiasts, we perhaps care about all of this, and have some patience,
but the general public will not have patience with it and it will hurt chess's
image. The public does not want to see multiple "world champions" and political
in-fighting and scandals. They will lose interest, and chess as a sport will
also lose, lose, lose. Kramnik does the sport, which has made him a lot of fame
and money, a great disservice. Shame on him. How can you say you're the best
if you dodge people and refuse to play? Are you afraid of Garry, Vladimir?
(...you wouldn't be the first...)

Chess is a competitive sport. It's a simple fact that, if you refuse to play,
then you can't call yourself "champion" and should stand aside for someone who
WILL play. (Unless he wants to be World Champion of Refusing To Play, but
Fischer already has that title locked up ... sorry, my little joke.)
