Amateur: Pos 1 -- plays Ka5, fails to see the exchange of rooks leading to the draw. After Bd1, the score is only a little worse, so Amateur fails this one. Pos 2 -- plays fxe4; not sure that it's worse than taking with the rook. Pos 3 -- plays Qd6; thinks it's about half-pawn better than Qg7. Pos 4 -- plays Qc1; thinks Qc1, Qa1 and Rg1 are all about the same. Pos 5 -- plays R3h2; but Rg3 looks better: Rg3 Qe6 Rxg5 Qxc4 Qa1 The last is interesting because of the long checking sequence which could occur if Qh2 rather than Qa1. Some engines might think all those checks should reduce the score due to the possibility of a rep draw.
