Hi, interesting are the newer mainboards with dobble speed RAM. 2x 256MB is normally enough for computer chess. If you like to make long time analyses, 1GB Ram is better but much more expensive because you need 2x512 DDR 400 and this RAMS are very expensive. At home I am working with 512MB on the most of my systems. Only a Pentium IV 3.06 has 1GB and my Dual Xeon have 8GB Ram, but only 2GB in used, it's enough for a dual system. Furthermore you need a good OS for a lot of RAM. Windows 2000 or XP Home / Professional working very fast with 2x256 MB DDR 400 and you around 300-340 after your OS is loaded with full power. Best Frank
