Following up on the testing of the Pro Deo S&D v6.7 settings I had announced
earlier, I tested a Nunn 2 match against Junior 8 under the same conditions:
Athlon 2400XP+, Nunn 2 set, 30min + 5s increment, 100 MB hash each (128 for
Junior actually), Ponder off, and [Clear cache = Always] for PD.
Note: I only use this for these single-cpu matches, but wouldn't dream of
clearing the cache if the ponder was left on playing online or using 2
computers.
The match against Junior 8 ended 20 - 20, a tie, which is rather remarkable in
that it has been one of PD's nemeses as per Kurt Utzinger's site, and per my own
Nunn 2 testing where it lost 16 - 24. So far the signs look good and it would
indeed seem that S&D 6.7 plays a stronger game than the default settings. At
least in slower time controls. I'll run a 3rd match to see.
