The same experts have today an other opinion :-)) We are speaking about experts and you have to know that every person which changed a CD-Rom drive with success is an really big expert today :-) With time the engine are not a product for the computer chess area, only for persons which have interest to test more as 10 in tourneys or to used more as 10 enginese for analyses. But very interesting is to for sell a good GUI with engines for the mass market. ChessBase do it in Germany with older versions of Fritz or versions without chess server connection since a shorter time. The same do other companys for around 4-5 years, like Ossi Weiner with his very good ideas to do it. This is in fact publicty for the market and much of the users which wrote in chess fora today comes to computer chess with one of this mass market products. Welcome again :-)) Our team have different offers to for sell Arena for the mass market with one or two stronger engines. Stronger engines are engines which are under the TOP 50 from the available WB / UCI engines. Not important is place 1 or place 37 today. The GUI is the final product which is interesting for the most users. If user have interest on a strong engine the user can buy Shredder which is compatible to all popular GUIs we have today. I believe we need new modern ideas. Chess-Server we have more as 10 years in US, in Gemrany popular with the ChessBase server in the latest two-three years. This idea is old and only multi-media is an old idea. With other words, I believe we need new ideas. We can more do with all the interesting engines we have. Look in other selection ... football for an example. The users have fun to see the League 1, 2, and the others. All the people which buy football article every year. The secret is to make computer chess more popular but I don't believe today and in the latest years that the right persons sitting on the right positions. A congress can solved the situation. We have to thinking in a group about the situation we have today. We can make much more intersting things but with 200 "Alone Fighters" we can not win a book, we can win only a nice mail with the words "Oh thanks for the information you send me". Means that more and more interseting people are not longer working in the area, but more and more perrsons with bad publicity ideas. For computer chess is this not the jumping we need. Best Frank
