Subject: Problems with 6 man endgame tablebases

Greetings chess and computer friends ...

My setup :
 P4 3.4 ghz system with 2gb RAM WIN/XP SP2
Shredder 8, Hiarcs 9, and Deep Fritz 8 all running on latest Chessbase GUI
  dated April 16,2004
 Chessbase DVD Endgame Turbo 2

OK ... the 6 man tablebases that come with Turbo 2 are working. I have the
Wilhelm program ((http://www.geocities.com/rba_schach2000/) and it verified that
the krppkr.2.nbw file was defective. I downloaded a copy from the Crafty site
ftp://ftp.cis.uab.edu/pub/hyatt/ and the Wilhelm utility verified the new
version of that file and also verified the other 6 man files. As I said
previously, the 6 man files from chessbase do work for all 3 of my engines ....

Now the problems start. I have lots of free hard drive space so I thought I
would start the long process of downloading some of the other 6 man files on the
Crafty site. So far I have 4 new sets :

KpppKR
KBBpKR
KBBpKQ
KQppKQ

I have verified all 4 sets with the Wilhelm utility. Unfortunately only the
first two are OK with the chessbase GUI. The last 2 (KBBpKQ and KQppKQ) will NOT
work. The symtoms are the Chessbase GUI will not load ..after a few seconds it
just disappears). Some may think this problem has been attributed to "corrupt
files". My files are OK at least according to Wilhelm
(http://www.geocities.com/rba_schach2000/)

I have tried to get support from Chessbase on this issue but have not even
received the courtesy of an email reply.

I am reluctant to continue the process of downloading additional 6 man files
until I am confident that I won't be wasting my time.

Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated
