But do > you think this was Christophe's intention? > Kurt i think that programmers do not like the idea of a program they don't know WHAT it will do. i mean: a program that sacs a piece, and that the sac is not ACCURATE but a bluff. a programmer is "more safe" when he writes a program that plays more SOLID stuff. it has much to do with the personality of the programmer himself. e.g. IMO CHESS GENIUS played so SAVE because richard lang is a very shy and quiet and save person. in opposite to richard lang one could take chris whittington. and so different genius is to CSTal, so different are the programmers. the program is somehow much like the programmer . I would have appreciated if the idea of an unsound playing tiger would have been continued. i think that CT15 and CT2004 is not going into this direction. IMO it was the major strength of gambit tiger, that it did something the other programs had problems to find out about. therefore the minor progress although christophe completely changed the program from version 15 to 2004. the program is much different. but plays nearly similar in strength and style. gambit tiger was something different IMO, although only a few lines maybe were changed, related to the normal tiger, but those few lines made it play different enough. whatever. its the past.
