You can compare your perft results with my engine Hermann (http://www.nnuss.de/Hermann/index.html) Start it from the command line and use it in UCI mode type "uci" Setup a position type "position fen <fen string>" Run perft test type "perft depth <n>" You will get a result in an UCI format info string. Hermann's perft is made for calculating the number of nodes, so it does a lot of unnecessary things (for perft). In other words it is lower than it could be.
