IMHO, the strongest engine is Delfi. I think every chess program made in Delphi is really written and debugged in Turbo Pascal (or Borland Pascal) and finally compiled in Delphi for speed. Turbo Pascal does not optimize the code. As a result, the exe file is 1.5-2 times slower than compiled in Microsoft Visual C++ or in Delphi. The DOS graphic is poor in comparison with Windows. However, Turbo Pascal has more possibilities for debugging than MSVC or Delphi. The chess program example included in Borland Pascal 7.0 is too weak and is really an example of the creation of DLLs and object oriented programming. You can also search Chess Turbo Pascal in Google.
