Subject: Crafty 19.17 - crashing on Mac OS X (terminal mode)

I have compiled crafty on my Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther) system.  It seems to
compile fine.  When I invoke crafty with ./crafty in a xterm I see this:

iMAC:~/chess/crafty roy$ ./crafty
found computer opening book file [./bookc.bin].

Crafty v19.17

White(1): e4
              time used:   3.42
Segmentation fault



I'm wondering if there is some environment variable or something I should set to
get a more interesting game from Crafty.  :-)

Any easy answers here?
