You might consider learning some patience. Writing a half dozen threads within
an hour of each other on a Saturday afternoon because you didn't get a reply yet
is pretty juvenile with all due respect.
There are more than one way to play an engine on the internet, and you'll find
that while it is indeed possible to connect Chessmaster, it is by far the most
complicated one to do so.
There are three main interfaces to connect engines to ICC:
- Chess Partner (http://www.lokasoft.nl)
- Winboard (http://www.tim-mann.org/chess.html)
- Chess Assistant (http://www.chessassistant.com)
In the case of Chess Assistant, there is a 'Lite' version for free that allows
this. I'm not 100% sure on the limitations, but know for certain the commercial
package allows full support.
All the programs have Help files and instructions on setting up an engine to
play on the ICC.
Understand also that there are 3 main engine protocols or types if you prefer.
There are Winboard engines, which can be used in the 3 interfaces mentioned;
then there are UCI engines that are also supported, but require a special
plug-in for Winboard (details can be found on the Winboard pages); and there are
Chessbase engines. As far as I know, Chessbase engines can only be hooked to ICC
via a special Winboard plugin
(http://wbec-ridderkerk.nl/html/download/autoplayer/boerger_eng.htm).
Chessmaster is a special case, though with John Merlino's care, it now follows
the Winboard protocol to a degree and can be made to run in the above interfaces
as well as the Fritz and company ones. You can find details at
http://www.utzingerk.com/how_to_use.htm
Bear in mind that in order to do this at ICC, you must have a (C) computer
account there. It is not free, and counts as a normal paid account like any
other. You are not to use this in a normal human account and it is constituted
as cheating. If you are caught, your account will most likely be suspended and
you will be forbidden from joining again. If you already have a human account
and wish to change it to a computer account, I presume it is possible, but would
need the assistance of the administrators there.
Good luck, and have fun!
