Hi Dieter, I've run a quick search on Google (for "queryperformancecounter multiprocessor") and in the first few entries there are at least a couple of references to malfunctions or bugs: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/winui/winui/windowsuserinterface/windowing/timers/timerreference/timerfunctions/queryperformancecounter.asp ...you can get different results on different processors due to bugs in the basic input/output system (BIOS) or the hardware abstraction layer (HAL)... http://twomix.devolution.com/pipermail/sdl/2002-July/047113.html ...this RDTSC counter varies its speed across machines... on Multiprocessor machines, like my own 850 Mhz box, the counter is running *much* faster than on uniprocessor systems... Just enough to suspect that this API is not completely reliable after all.
