Well firstly i would think convenience. Most people use their comps for other things besides chess, and thus are using Windows, and it's quite a hassle to leave windows and go to DOS. Further, people who are used to windows often develope an aptitude for using windows programs(no manual required). At first look at Rebel 10 most people who aren't used to DOS programs immediately have the sinking feeling and think "this is going to be hard- Where's the manual?". Further though "beauty may be in the eye..." most eyes find windows programs infinitely more pleasing to look at. When i first saw Rebel 9, i thought ughh :(. Lastly when most people are through with the DOS prog they need to go back to windows, because most everyday applications, people use are windows progs(Excel, MS Word, powerpoint etc.). This waiting for windows to reload SUCKS! Computer people hate to wait for anything, you can do almost anything on a p166mmx that you can on a 350Mhz. So why buy a 350? I don't have to wait :).
