Take my word for it, when almost every 1450 player on the planet says that Fritz when set to 1450 kicks their butts it's true. I don't think the programmers have a clue either. I think the CM6K program has the closest ratings for lower rated players (USCF). The thing I find about CM6K is you have to play 5 or 6 players within your rating range (both up and down) to get a feel for your rating. Of course when it makes a sac (for no reason) that's it's very poor way of giving the 1450 player a chance. Don't be surprised if after getting down a piece it starts to play better ! My experience with CM6K is that I can beat some personalities rated higher than me and I lose to some lower than me. I think the style is part of the problem. For instance one personality rated about 120 points lower than me has beat me 16-4 so far. The main reason I see is because of the way it is handicapped. It plays the entire game in less than 1 minute when I'm playing Game/10. The problem is it makes mistakes but I can't find them because I'm so rushed for time. I have tested this personality against higher rated personalities that I can beat and it loses to them as it should! I have played about 80 games now against various CM6K personalities and my rating is very close to my ICC rating(It varies of course). Jim Walker
