You're a little ahead of the curve with the 64 bit processor , but it take longer to go obsolete. The question really depends on how long to you plan to keep the unit. The longer you plan to keep it, the more appealing the 64 bit unit imo. If you only plan to keep it two years, the Intel unit will be fine. if you plan to keep it 5 years (ancient for PCs) , you are better off with the 64 bit unit is my view. My Dual 1.7 Ghz is now 3 years old -- and it still serves its purpose fine. If stay with it for two more years, my next unit will be 64 bit. If I were to get one today, I would probably still still stick with a 32 bit unit, although it may be an AMD.
