 The benchmarking I've seen shows that the K8 holds its own in database
applications. SPEC has one called vortex. I don't think it's able to run in
parallel. But it shows that the integer code prowess of the K8 does give it a
marked advantage without HT enabled.
 If you're still looking at an intel solution a Centrino based machine offers
great integer performance.
